Engine Performance Modifications

One of Lekka Racing's specialities is building racing equipment. These bikes are built to the riders specifications, with the regulations of the class the motorcycle will compete in and of course... TO WIN!                                                                                                               Over the years we have come to understand the modifications nessesary to get the most out of the new Superbikes, whether it be a Super Stock class or a fully modified beast of a machine. Often it's better to set the engine up with a combination of modifications ( listed below), the Electronics package to suit these modifications ( see the ECU Software page) and of course the suspension required to manage the extra performance.                                                      Below is a list of modifications Lekka Racing perform to gain the extra seconds in the quest for lower lap times. 1) Setting the compression of the motor to optimuim for your specific application. This includes combustion chamber modification, adjustment of the "squish" and pocketing of pistons.

2) Gas flowing of cylinder heads to optimise air flow and atomization of mixture.

3)Dynamic balancing of engine parts. This enhances the acceleration of the motor and helps getting the required RPM needed. 

4)With the camshaft side of it there are two options. Depending on budget and exact requirments, normally "degree'ing" of the inlet and exhaust cams is sufficient. The other option is the fitment of "race camshaft sets" and the matching valve spring sets. 

5)With added power and "Quick Shifters" comes the requirment of " gearbox undercutting". This is the process of modifying the gears to negate missed shifts ( causing gearbox damage or failure).

6) Fitment of "Aftermarket Performance Racing Clutch's" is sometimes required to transfer the increased power. There is a variety of these units we can choose from to suite your need.

 

The listed modification above have all been "tried and tested" at Lekka Racing. We also use the Dynojet Dyno in our shop to set the enging for optimuim power and torque.
